Do butterflies go glamping ?!
It’s funny, I was in a service station the other day and there was a ‘BEE CAUSE’ notice on the wall. It claimed that just by scattering their free pack of seeds you could produce you lots of wild flowers and help bees find refuge in your back garden.
Nice idea. But could it be true?
Could just producing more flowers simply make bees appear in your garden? – as if by magic? From where though? Exactly? Do they just suddenly materially from nowhere as if they had been sitting in the corner waiting for you to cast the seeds on the ground?
I was pondering this as I arrived back at the Dome Garden and bumped into Heidi and Natalie, our magical glamping gardeners. We had a little tour of their latest efforts including some new buddleia they’d planted.
Now, Buddleia is to Butterflies what honey – or wild flowers – are to bees. Apparently. It is famous for attracting butterflies. From where though? Do they also appear, like Bees, as if by magic. Does some unknown force conjure them up from a mystical world, brimming with happy butterflies waiting to be released into the earthly domain.
“I don’t know where they come from.” Natalie admitted. “But they do you know” SHe was protesting a bit now “They just sort of appear! Honestly, they do.”
And as the words left her lips, it happened. There and then. A beautiful little glamping butterfly landed on the buddleia and came to rest, flapping it’s wings in the sun.
Out of nowhere!
As if by magic!!
Conjured up from some mystical world… no doubt!
