Rockers in The Cotswolds

It’s slightly odd to describe a bunch of predominantly 40-50 somethings as ‘Rockers’, but a couple of hundred of them did put up a brave attempt to hold their own last weekend at the first ‘Rock the Cotswolds’ event.

75 of the areas ‘coolest’ companies (yes, that includes us), the so called ‘Rockers’, met up for a jolly evening of dressing up and drinking and dancing (clearly the former didn’t apply to Jonny’s somewhat shambolic appearance, looking like he had just stepped off a building site – of which more later!)

It was organised and executed impeccably by the unbelievably, snake-charmingly, capable Oli Christie, aided by the boundless generosity of oodles of Gloucestershire businesses and councils. A great evening crammed full of food and drink and fantastic music, but also, most importantly, an extraordinary selection of people. On one hand they are some of the UK’s most creative and inspirational people, on the other they are also some of its most friendly, welcoming and communicative. A more interesting bunch it would be difficult to find anywhere in the UK.

Highlight of the evening, dad-dancing aside, was the brilliant beatboxing band ‘Duke’

Now they really did ‘Rock the cotswolds.’

And next year, if we’re invited back, we’re dressing up!
